History of the Morgan Horse

The Morgan is an American breed that was founded by Justin Morgan in 1789.  The Morgan horse population quickly began to spread out and they were in high demand.  Morgan stallions were used to produce quality cavalry horses. 

The breed excels in many disciplines and is known for its versatility.  The Morgan is compact and refined in build, with strong limbs, an expressive face, large eyes, laid back shoulders and a well arched neck.
